About halfbuilt

AI and tech for the people who build things — including the person building this.

halfbuilt.fyi came out of a simple problem: I needed to learn a lot of things, fast.

I'm a builder and tinkerer from way back, but I come from a non-technical background. When I started working on more serious projects, the gap between "I can get this to work" and "I understand what's happening" became wide enough that I had to do something about it.

So I built a tool to pull AI and tech news, surface the stories that matter to me, and turn them into a daily digest and longer explainers. Then I stuck it on the internet.

What's here

Highlights and the daily digest are largely LLM-curated based on my interests and what I need to understand to keep building. Filtered news — not everything, just the stuff relevant to someone (mostly me...) trying to ship things.

Explainers are me digesting something I wanted to understand and writing it out. What does it mean? Why does it matter? What changes because of it? Writing it down is how I know whether I've got it or not.

The name

Most things I build are halfbuilt. The site is named for the state most real work lives in.

If any of this is useful to you, great. If you spot something wrong, even better — tell me on Bluesky.
